POST CANCER RECONSTRUCTION

Posted Wed 11 December 2019

Reconstructive surgery following breast cancer is one of the procedures carried out by Consultant Plastic Surgeon Miss Victoria Rose. Here one patient looks back at her journey:

In terms of star rating I would give 5 stars!

I have been so pleased with my experience of surgery under Miss Rose's excellent care. While in the midst of cancer treatment, she guided me through my options for reconstructive surgery thoroughly, answering all my questions as they arose, and I felt well prepared to make a decision as to the type of surgery I would like to have. Miss Rose and her team were excellent at preparing me for what to expect both on the day and during the recovery phase, and I have found their timelines for expected recovery to have been very accurate. Miss Rose also visited me regularly in hospital following the surgery which was really reassuring for me to know everything was as it should be. I felt like I was in very capable hands with Miss Rose - her colleagues all speak very highly of her which is great to hear as a patient, and I am really pleased with the outcome of the surgery. I can't recommend her highly enough and I am so grateful to her for her kindness and for looking after me so well.

Thanks so much again, and for making the DIEP possible when I know there was only just enough there! I am so pleased I was able to go for it. And as I said above, I'm so grateful for everything you've done for me.

We extend our thanks and best wishes to all our patients who find time to write about their experience.
